Adepticon!!!

Hey all,

The Law here with an Adepticon posting. I registered for the Friendly tourney this year and am looking forward to my first Adepticon. I'll be running my Raven Guard and though I have to paint several units yet I think the deadline will push me to get it done. I wanted to throw my list out there for some comments and critiques before I get too far along on my painting and don't have time to change it. So with out further delay here is Task Force Talon:

HQ:
Shadow Captain Korvydae (Forgeworld)
Librarian: w/ Plasma Pistol and Force Sword

Elites
Contemptor Pattern Dread: 2 x heavy flamers, 2 dread close combat arms, cyclone missile launcher

Troops:
Scout Squad 1: 4 Sniper rifles, Missile Launcher w/ Flakk,
   
Scout Squad 2: 5 Shotgun,
           - Landspeeder storm w/ Assault Cannon as dedicated transport.

Tactical Squad 1: 4 Tac marines, 1 Sgt w/ power sword and Bolter.
          - Razorback with Twin Linked Assault Cannon

Tactical Squad 2: 9 Tac Marines w/ grav gun and Missile Launcher w/ Flakk. Sgt with Power sword and bolter
         - Rhino

Fast Attack
Assault Squad: 9 Assault Marines w/ 2 plasma pistols and 1 Sgt with twin lighting claws
(Note due to Korvydae special rule they count as troops)

Heavy Support
Storm Raven Gunship with Multi melta and Assault Cannon.

Now I realize that two Forgeworld models may not seem all that friendly to some so I'm torn about that. I can easily use Korvydae as a standard captain for the same amount of points and the contemptor as an Iron Clad. That being said I still have to assemble and paint all the scouts, the rhino, the landspeeder storm and the librarian. Not impossible and I think very doable with the storm probably being the biggest pain.

The overall plan is for the Assault Marines and Korvydae to move up one of the flanks and tear into to enemy infantry. The sniper scouts will be positioned in cover to provide supporting fire as needed and hold a home objective if needed. The small tac squad will be joined by the librarian and hold a home objective and use the Razorback as fire support. The shotgun scouts will basically run around in the Storm doing drive bys and holding/contest objectives late in the game. The full size tac squad will push forward to hold an objective and probably screen the assault marines to some extent. The contemptor rides in the Storm raven and jumps in where his heavy flamers and close combat skills can do work. The storm raven then provides anti tank/ anti flyer support as needed.

The ancients march again...

So haven't posted in a while but finally got something completed. I picked this little gem of a classic model back at adepticon and finally got around to painting. It was quite fun to paint. The abundance of purity seals and archways coupled with the trim and wings on the front give the model a regal appearance. It looks more like royalty rather then a veteran warrior. I'm excited to get all of them on table and still not be run in an unbound list. Scoring dreadnoughts FTW!!!

The Descent of Angels...

As we know, I have been working on a multitude of models for the past few weeks ranging from dreadnoughts to landraiders and various deathwing load out style terminators. Obviously there is a theme going on here... I will let you folks figure it out. Needless to say there is large, open, theme based Apocalypse game at my LGS. Of the Lonely Havocs crew, 3 of us(Cj "SeeJay" he also goes by Fun Dip , Andrew "The Law" , and Travis "Spazgar" ; all contributors to the blog) will be rolling in an all Space wolf team.
LEMAN BE PRAISED!!!

Should be pretty cool honestly to see a whole army of one codex. They will be receiving reinforcements from me in the form a Landraider squad with one of each codex variant and one Predator Assassination squad...SOMEONE WILL BE GETTING THE D!!!!

I know they will have one Shadowsword Super Heavy Tank, one Aquila Strong Point, some cool Forge World jazz including Sicaran Tank, Fire Raptor, Scorpius Whirlwind, and a Malcador. Plus at least 10 drops, friggin' wolves....

As for myself "The Fist", dan "Squoze" (check him out on reddit. He has his own sub reddit; MINI SWAP), Spencer "Slender", and Brandon "Beefy McArmcandy", will be running a combined force of Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Imperial Guard...or Astra Militarum...What an awful name, I'm just going to throw that out there. I hate it, they will forever be the guard and not this new garbage...anyways... and o uh dirty, mean Grey Knights. Not exactly the best theme but it makes sense that multiple factions would all receive the same distress call and rush to the Southern Front.

For my Teammates, I know for sure that we will have a Shadowsword as well, 1 Baneblade( my beautiful arctic camo master piece!!!), no less then a dozen Leman Russ tanks of various variants( say that 5 times fast!), 2k of jump pack marines variants, Deathwing, Ravenwing, Legendary Kaldor Draigo and his Paladins, 5 Storm Ravens, 4 Storm Talon, 1 Nephilim Jet Fighter and a Partridge in a Pear Tree... hehe

That roughly comes out to 4000 points...hoping I get to actually play 4k. Obviously the plan is to deep strike them on top of an objective and take it by force!
I know Ironclad aren't DA but I wanted another Dreadnought but I don't have another Venerable dreadnought modeled or painted appropriately and they are awesome!!!

Hopefully you guys think it is cool, I know I do. We plan to post about the aftermath so don't worry folks.

Who doesn't love a good dreadnought?

I swear I do not have a problem...

While working on this mass of terminators for the past couple weeks,  I got a tad bored and decided to paint up a dreadnought. Nothing too crazy, just a quick job to add to the collection of walkers. Maybe I should run the dreadnought formation for apoc instead? Anyways, I still have to add some "star hawk"(dark angels) insignia to it.

O yea, did I ever mention that my army is known as the star hawks? A secret successor chapter, but that is for another time.

Heresy cometh....

Thanks to CJ and Brandon, I now have 47 deathwing terminators ready and painted for any apoc game with ten more on the way. I also now have this gorgeous forge world contemptor dreadnought.  It is probably my new favorite model, especially striding into battle behind these finished cataphractii terminators whom a liberal application of the recent citadel technical paint, blood for the blood god. It is definitely an appropriate effect for any army in the 40k universe.  Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

Continual work on my firestorm Armada find dindrenzi federation dreadnought. It is actually a huge model even compared to other Spartan Games. More shots to come.
