How The Fist got his groove back

After a slow summer for hobbying and the advent of fall, it's time to get back into hobbying.

The lonely havocs have been slacking on the comment and we apologize. To all 5 of our fans on here,  we are truly sorry. Any who...

A few of us are taking a hiatus from 40k looks like,  switching it up and moving into more regular warmahordes game play. I know,  I know,  the privateer press bandwagon but it's not that I am on the GW gripe train, I just haven't been enjoying it lately. And playing a different game for while helps. It's motivation to pick up some new pieces, which I did, DAMN YOU MINIATURE MARKET!!

But, I digress, me and Squoze playing some this Thursday,  maybe we can squeeze a batrep or 2 in. But here is some of my recent work.

Shadow Captain Korvydae completed.... FINALLY!

Hey all, The Law here with a WIP update. I just finished the newest addition to my growing Raven Guard army. Shadow Captain Korvydae. Now for those of you who may not know of him here's a brief run down. He's a Forgeworld Model from one of the Imperial Armor books. The cool thing about him is the two special rules he gives your army. He grants the Hit and Run special rule to his unit and even more importantly he makes Assault Marines Troop choices. The caveat being that any army with him as the warlord must take one Scout unit (He is the Master of Recruits after all). Now I've included some pictures of the completed model. One thing you might notice is that the base on my model is different than the one he comes with. I decided to make him a little more dynamic and have him leaping off the edge of a small little cliff. My vanguard veterans will have similar bases when I get done with them. I also went with a slightly different color scheme than the model on Forgeworld. I just don't like the idea of the white jetpack so I kept it black. Anyways here's the pictures!

So as Squoze said, we got into warmahorde...damnnit... anyways I was given a starter box for the convergence of cyriss. This is my large warjack known as the cypher. Tried some osl effect,  not very well mind you but I tried. Haven't played with it yet and this a rough look at it but enjoy.

What do you fight for...

So this weekend is Adepticon in Chicago and a couple of us fools are going. I'm currently on the wait list for the friendly tournament taking place on Friday.  I'm number 15, so everyone pray I get to. I've been told that your army has to have themed objectives for the various game types and no game will ever alot more then 3, so here is what I'm putting together so far. As you can see; a pile of various ordnance, a rather morbid and macabre grave, and cache of tools and veritable supplies. They should come out pretty cool I hope.  I'll post more when they're done.

WIP

I know this blog is mainly for 40K but I just finished a mini to use as my character in the Pathfinder RPG and I thought I'd share it with you guys. I present Harek Cinderaxe a human Ranger.

This is what I started with...

It's actually had to tell in that picture but this a metal mini. I'd already decided a didn't like the swords so decided to chop them off and add axes instead. Because axes make everything better. After some quick kit bashing from my dwarf warriors boxes I found two suitable axes and converted him.

Axes make everything awesome. It's science.

After a quick basecoat of black spray paint it was time to start painting. Since he's a ranger and all I decided to stick with browns and greens for his colors.

I hate painting faces....

I went with a lighter brown/tan for his under clothes and a very dark brown for his boots, gloves, and armor. The cloak is a nice dark green for blending in with the woods and such. I wasn't sure what to do with the axes but then I remembered that fire makes everything better and that Harek had flaming axes and went with that theme.

Here you can see the finished model. I still need to clear coat him to protect him but he's done as far as color goes. The axes were basecoated in red and then a bright orange used to create the lines. I think it gives the right sense that these axes mean business! Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out!

So thanks to the kindness of strangers, and the kindness of my wife, I was gifted not one, but two great unclean ones from Forgeworld.

Cataphrachtii!!

Continual work on the lovely cataphrachtii terminators.  They have proved to be more of a hassle then I originally thought but they are getting there.  I'm not sure where to go with the "eyes", namely because they aren't really modeled, but I intend to use them as normal terminators as is (wysiwyg woooooo). The journey is almost over then move on to more deathwing because we all know I need more of those, plus my new relic contemptor dreadnought from Forge world!

WIP Sicaran Battle Tank

Hi, SeeJay here from the Lonely Havocs. This is my first post and I will be doing a small review of the Sicaran Battle Tank. I have yet to use it in a game smaller then Apoc, but that will soon change. So this will mostly be about the model, my thoughts on the rules, and me actually painting something.

Cataphractii Terminators are crazy

Started work on my Christmas cataphrachtii from good ol' cj. They have an obnoxious amount of heresy era detail and styling. The heads will be the only real issue.

Resin space ships are cool too!

Continual work on my firestorm Armada find dindrenzi federation dreadnought. It is actually a huge model even compared to other Spartan Games. More shots to come.
