Siegeworld Apocalypse Event, ITC 40K Tournament, and Age of Sigmar Tournament

Siegeworld Productions and the Gateway Gamers Club have joined forces to bring you Siegeworld 2016! This event will be will be held the weekend of Aug 27th and 28th at the North County Recreational Center (link).

We are looking to grow Siegeworld, so starting in 2016 in addition to the Apocalypse battle, there will be a 40K ITC Tournament and an Age of Sigmar Tournament.

Siegeworld 2016 will be a 2 day event. Players have the option of participating in Siegeworld for 2 days or they can participate in the 40K ITC event and have the option of joining Siegeworld on day 2.

In the past Siegeworld has been known for massive games of floorhammer. Now Siegeworld is coming up to the tables! Yes, the battlefields of Siegeworld will be played on table tops. Siegeworld 2016 will be broken up into 2 to 3 battle fields. There will be the main battle table and 1-2 satellite battle tables. The main battle table will host the central battle. Here is where Battalions of Tanks, whole Chapters of Marines, and numerous Titans will clash for supremacy. The 1-2 satellite battle tables will play host to smaller engagements to gain control of either a long range artillery installation or an orbital defense relay.

More information and ticket purchasing info can be found here: http://gateway-gamers.com/index.html

This event is hosted by the Gateway Gamers who were previously responsible for running all of the 40K and Warhammer Fantasy events at Diecon. They're a great bunch of guys who know what they are doing.

I'm ridiculously excited for this. This is the one time a year I get to play an Apocalypse game. My five Imperial Knights and all of my various Space Marines are ready for action. And of course I'll be playing in the 40k ITC Tournament. If you're free this weekend, please come out and join in one of the events. IT"S GONNA BE AWESOME!!!

Hobby Update/Battle Report: Kataphron Destroyers and the First Ride of the White Scars Battle Company

I just finished up my Kataphron Destroyers. With that, the entire Cult Mechanicus portion of my War Convocation is finished. Next up I plan on going back to the 3 drop pods I had been working on before my airbrush broke. From there, on to the Skitarii, or perhaps my new Battle Company.

Speaking of the Battle Company, I managed to get a game in with it this past weekend. It was pitted against William Key's new Tau army. It was an 1850 Adepticon practice game featuring scenario 1: King of the Hill.

Deployment: Vanguard
Mission Objective 1: Control the 24" center of the table to score points at the top of each of your turns starting turn 2.
Mission Objective 2: Emperor's Will

My List (White Scars Space Marines/Imperial Knight):
Battle Demi-Company

Tau won the roll to deploy first. I won the roll to place infiltrators first. This was key because with his warlord trait, he could have blocked my scout moves with his Infiltrators. Tau chose to go first and I failed to seize the initiative. Emperor's Will objectives are circled below.

Imperial Knight 5/5 and an Imperial Knight Commission

One year to the date of making my first Imperial Knight post, I finally finished the army. This is the fifth and final Knight, the Cerastus Knight Acheron. Of course I say that now, but god knows they'll release another cool Knight down the line and I'll probably grab one of those as well. There's an ITC style tournament this weekend and I can't tell you how excited I am to try this guy out. I was motivated to finish this guy up mostly because I was also doing my first commission paint job on an Imperial Knight Errant/Paladin. I figured I'd paint them up along side each other since I'd be doing a lot of similar things on each. This was the first of what I hope becomes many more commissions. The project went smoothly and I'm looking forward to helping more people get their armies painted. If you have any interest in a commission please feel free to contact me at capnmoe2002@yahoo.com.

Here's a few work in progress pics.

Warhammer 40k: DieCon Gateway Grand Tournament 2015 Results

Overall Winner Andy Ford's Amazing Eldar/Imperial Knight Army Converted to Appear as Necrons.
The final standings were as follows:

Overall Winner: Andy Ford (Eldar/Imperial Knights)
2nd Overall: Adam Warnecke a.k.a. Capnmoe (Eldar/Imperial Knights)
3rd Overall: (Tau/Tyranids)
Best General: Eric Darrais (Eldar)
Best Painted: Tobias (Space Marines/Imperial Knights)
Sportsmanship: Dustin Beck (Grey Knights)

Eldar and Imperial Knights ruled the day. There was even an Eldar list that had 5 Wraithknights. I must say, I expected that list to completely run away with the win. To my, and I would imagine many other's surprise, he was tabled in the first round and started the day with a 0. All of the top Eldar lists contained a Farseer, jet bikes, and a Wraithknight. While the odd man Tau/Tyranids list had 3 Riptides, 3 Skyrays, and 3 flying Hive Tyrants. All brutal lists to say the least.
Capnmoe was running his Eldar/Imperial Knights Combo

Bill Keys was running his Astra Militarum

Imperial Knights are Now Lords of War!!!

This is certainly going to shake up the competitive seen. Most tournaments only allow 1 Lord of War and usually at under a certain point cost. I'm betting we can say goodbye to seeing Adamantine Lance in any tournaments in the future. The new book even contains a handful of new "Lance" formations all of which I'm sure will not see competitive play of any kind. This has huge implications for my DieCon list this year. It would have featured a Knight Errant and a Wraithknight. Guess it's back to the drawing boards for my list.

Imperial Knight: 4/5

The last of the normal Imperial Knights is finished except for its base. This is my take on the Freeblade Knight Auric Arachnus. I really wanted to challenge myself with this model. Yellow is not the easiest color to work with and I got to do some freehand work on the spider. I couldn't be more pleased with the way this model looks.

I also finally got a game in with the Adamantine Lance formation and was pleasantly surprised to see it didn't just walk through my opponent. Game pics after the jump.

Imperial Knight: 3/5

Imperial Knight number 3 of 5 is finished. I just need to get some base work done and he will be ready for the tabletop. I'm looking forward to trying the Adamantine Lance formation this week. A friend wanted some practice for an upcoming tournament at the end of March. I hope his sphincter is prepared to receive the awesomeness that is 3x Imperial Knights with re-rollable saves.

Forgeworld Cerastus Knight Lancer: My Imperial Knight Army Expands

Well, it took a LONG time, but I finally got the Cerastus Knight Lancer I had ordered. I absolutely loved this kit. In fact I loved putting this kit together and painting it so much, that I now have another one on the way. That will give me 5 Knights total finishing out my 2000 point Imperial Knight army. Here's some pictures documenting the assembly and painting of this bad boy.

Warhammer 40K League Summary

A new league started at the FLGS this month. It's been using the Las Vegas Open style missions. We have a good sized group going to the LVO next year and wanted them to have some experience with the missions. I for one hope these missions become the norm at the club. It's a great mix of both Eternal War and Maelstrom mission styles, and it adds a lot more depth to the game. All of the missions can be found here if you are curious about them. The following is a quick summary of my games so far.

My List (Necrons, Chaos Space Marines, Imperial Knight): This is the list I plan on running for the entire league unless my opponent decides they don't want me to include the Imperial Knight. In which case he will be switched out for 2 units of Necron Warriors in Ghost Arcs.

Imperial Knight Update: Transfers and Basing Materials

Like the title says, I got all of the transfers and basing materials on. The transfers went on great. I used Micro Set and Micro Sol then sealed them with Lahmian Medium to give them a matte finish. They look absolutely seamless with the paint job. Zero silvering effect. I am SUPER pleased with it. Now I just need to paint the base and this bad boy is done. I use bark to simulate rocks on my bases. It always works out well. They look great after I paint them up.

Imperial Knight Update & Battle Report: Eldar/Imperial Knight vs Tau/Farsight Tau/Chaos Space Marines

I finished all the painting on the Imperial Knight and he turned out fantastic. Now I need to finish the base and get the decals on. I ordered some Micro Sol and Micro Set. Once they arrive I'm going to take the advice I got from my last post and seal the model with lahmian medium or a matte spray once I get them on.

Last night I got this guy on the table for the first time. Sadly, due to my opponent, it may have been one of the most awkward and unenjoyable games I've ever played. To start, his list was about 2728 points from what I can tell. The league is supposed to run at 2000 points. That combined with his sour mood and whiny antics really just put me off. At any rate, here's a quick battle report.

Points: 2000 vs 2728ish
Deployment: Vanguard
Mission: The Relic

My List (Eldar/Imperial Knight):

Imperial Knight: Work in Progress

So, I thought I would post up some pics of my work in progress Imperial Knight. I'm doing my take on the House Cadmus color scheme. One thing about this model that I'm not looking forward to doing is the decals. I really don't have much experience doing them, and when I do they almost always end up looking shiny and terrible. I've watched a few tutorials on Youtube and they all suggest using Micro Sol and Micro Set. I've also heard that putting a gloss varnish on the surfaces helps but I really hate gloss varnished models. If anyone has any tips or suggestions for using decals and transfers please let me know.
